Tuesday - Sightseeing

I know most of you are not too interested in our sightseeing adventures anymore :o), but I'm trying to keep a record of our trip for Laynie's memory book so I'll post about it anyway. After an exciting day on Monday - our first visit with our babe - we were able to relax on Tuesday and do some sightseeing. Holt set up a city tour for us with 3 volunteer guides - 2 university students and 1 recent graduate. 2 of them spoke English quite well and the other was working on it. Their English is definitely better than our Korean and they were really delightful. Very polite and fun to be around. We were also with another Holt couple who is adopting a little boy 2 weeks older than Laynie. It was fun getting to know them and swapping stories.

Here's a brief list of what we did with some pictures below to illustrate:
  • Deoksugung Palace - used by kings during the Joseon Dynasty; beautiful, but I was a little more interested in the field trips going on there :o) - adorable!!
  • Waterway downtown - very cool place to stroll downtown away from the hustle and bustle of the streets
  • Insadong - shopping and lunch (had bibimbap - a traditional Korean meal of rice, vegetables, meat and hotsauce served in a bubbling hotpot - one of our favorites.)
  • Namdaemun Market - craziest market ever - so many shops everywhere; great souvenir shopping
  • Tried to do Seoul Tower, but once again we were too tired to make it. Hopefully on Thursday before we get Laynie

We are so much enjoying all of your pictures! It seems like the week is going so quickly! We will be praying that Alayna is feeling better and definatley for the day that you get her and she has to leave her foster family, it is the best but hardest day, I'm sure. Take care!
